MOVING & PACKING TIPS
Good preparation is half the work. This wise saying is very much applicable to each move. Moving takes time - so we advise you start early and get organized.
- Make a plan how you want to do the job preferably 3-4 weeks in advance.
- If you want a "do-it-yourself" move, confirm dates with the Truck Rental Company and people who may help you. If you want to rent our quality trucks or be moved by a Professional Moving Service, contact us and confirm dates and services.
- Get rid of items you don't need or hazardous items.
- Think strongly on how you want to move collectibles, jewelry, etc. Keep an eye on them during your move. It is wiser to move these items in your own personal vehicle.
- Make a list of items that need to be put in offsite storage area or need to be moved from offsite storage area to your new destination.
- Arrange or buy enough moving supplies to ease your work.
- Use sturdy boxes that can be properly closed and sealed. Pack as much as you can using boxes. This provides greater protection for your belongings and makes loading much easier.
- Group things such as kitchen items into boxes together. Make sure they are clean!
- Tape all boxes top and bottom with strong tape.
- Use proper packing materials for fragile items. Mark FRAGILE boxes clearly.
- Do not pack unnecessary liquids! Pack them in strong boxes, and clearly label them LIQUIDS, and THIS WAY UP to avoid spillage.
- Use a marker to label and number your boxes. Make a list of them. Mark the room and the box contents clearly to ease unpacking at your new destination.
- List your furniture and garage items.
- Use dollies to move heavy items or boxes.
- Use blankets to protect your belongings in the trucks.
